The lodge is situated above a steep bank overlooking the river where it starts it's decent down several rapids. These rapids provide an continuous soothing sound as one relaxes on the deck overlooking the river. This stretch of river has a resident pair of African Finfoot which are often seen as one approaches or leaves the camp.
The Chobe River offers the visitor the opportunity to use boats to view both game and birds. Being on the water enables the visitor to get close to big game without disturbing them and not endangering the visitors. This one of the best places to take spectacular photographs of elephants and buffalo against the setting sun. In spring as the river starts to drop, the African Skimmers return to nest on the sandbanks being exposed by the retreating water. At roughly the same time, the Rock Pratincoles return to nest on the exposed rocks in the middle of the river. Both these “special” species are easily photographed at this time.
Ichingo with is warm welcome and excellent food offers the visitor a comfortable base from which to venture forth in small boats with no more than 4 people to look for birds and game. One can go where the moods takes one and is not limited to regular routes followed by the bigger craft which operate from other lodges and hotels.
The lodges are safari-style tents on concrete floors, with the bathroom in a separate, but attached, structure.
