IMBABALA, Upper Zambezi

In the extreme northwest of the Zimbabwe lies Kazungula, the only place in the world where four countries meet. It is an interesting area biologically as it is an area where west meets east and north meets south in terms of faunal and floral distributions. It is also the southern limit of the swamp habitats of the upper Zambezi and the eastern limit of the swamp flora and fauna of the unique Okavango Delta.

Inland there is relatively dry woodland with Mopane and Acacia trees. The river line is almost a linear oasis and is the animals lifeline during the dry season when the woodlands have no surface water. The elephant herds have to walk long distances inland away from the river in search of food and many will only visit the river every second or third day.
Imbabala Camp is landscaped into the beautiful riverine forest overlooking the Zambezi river and its narrow floodplain. The lawns around the twin-bedded "A" frame en-suite lodges, which have a panoramic view of the river, are a good place to relax and unwind. Most of the meals are eaten 'el fresco' under one of the large trees in the camp grounds.
