Having relocated to George on the beautiful garden route in the Southern Cape, we are busy exploring the incredible options in places along the Garden Route and inland into the Little Karoo. We plan to explore further afield in due course. The Southern Cape area is particularly noted for its wide variety of plant species, many of them endemic, from the Fynbos along the coast to the succulents in the Karoo. The area is part of the Cape Floral Kingdom which is the smallest floral kingdom in the world. Despite it's small size it has an amazing number of endemic plant species Although we will continue to offer tailor-made group tours throughout Southern Africa and Madagascar, we will also be able to plan and, where required, guide more local tours in the southern Cape area. We are hoping to create a Southern Cape Birding Route stretching from the Breede River in the West to Cape St Francis in the East and from the coast to at least as far as the Swartberg Mountains, but probably including the southern parts of the Great Karoo as far north as Beaufort West. The George Museum has made facilities available to us for the development of Bird Identification courses and already two groups have taken the course. Peter is a THETA registered NATURE GUIDE for all SA provinces. |
