Tim Henson
Science Teacher from Niwot High School, Niwot Colorado
"In the summer of 1997, the Hensons and Hunters spent 14 days in the company of Peter Ginn and his associates exploring the diverse ecosystems of Zimbabwe. The stated purpose of the trip was to look at the birds of the region, but Peter and the guides were able to give us so much more. Each local guide was superbly knowledgeable about the local flora and fauna. It was a joy to have competent guides who knew as much about plants and animals as they did about birds. The Ginns had done such a remarkable job of booking us into small, out of the way, lodges that we felt like 19th century royalty on safari. Each lodge was staffed with competent and excellent help. The surroundings were elegant and the food was 5 star. In spite of taking time out from birding to look at the total flora and fauna, we still were able to observe and photograph over 300 species of birds. It was truly a trip of a lifetime for all of us."

Mark & Rosemary Foster "My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our holiday with Peter Ginn in Zimbabwe. We much appreciated his professional approach, his deep knowledge of the local wildlife and above all, his sense of humor. When we next go hunting (with a camera) in Zimbabwe, we shall try to persuade him to take us. Marks out of 10 = 10!" |

Don & Jennifer Young Ontario, Canada "We both want to thank you most sincerely for making our trip so thoroughly memorable. We very much appreciate the trouble that you took to ensure that all our needs were catered to, especially when the heat and thin air got the better of us. I can't imagine what else you could have done to make the trip more successful. It will remain a highlight for us for the rest of our lives. We wish you all possible success with the rest of your tours. I hope that you have many happy experiences with all your groups." |
George M Staples "To whom it may concern - Mr Peter Ginn, the operator of Peter Ginn Birding Safaris, Marondera,
Zimbabwe, has informed me that he has been in contact with you concerning
a possible birding tour for Americans who may visit Zimbabwe in the near
future. Mr Ginn is well and favorably known to many of us stationed at the
U.S. Embassy in Harare. He is Zimbabwe's pre-eminent expert on birds and
the author of many books about the birds of the Southern African region. In addition, both my wife and the
present Ambassador's wife have taken his courses and have found them to be
extremely informative and entertaining. Peter and his wife have been
wonderful hosts to numerous groups, and I am sure that future clients will
thoroughly enjoy their experience under his knowledgeable tutelage." "With respect to the birding itself, we could not have associated ourselves with a more qualified,
capable and personable individual than Peter Ginn. He, along with
individual location specialists selected by him, were the catalysts that
made for the success of this tour. Our whole group feels this way.
Concerning our unofficial bird goal of 400 species, we were able to come
up with 426, much to the delight of everybody. We completed a composite
group checklist by 6 identified areas is enclosed for your records. You
will note that Hwange and Vic Falls were separated into Hwange and Upper
Zambezi (which includes Vic Falls and the Zambezi up to Imbabala)."
Mrs C Beaton "Peter, a special thank you for your excellent care of us and for your unending patience as well as the
precise planning that made a perfect trip, and for making Giff's birthday such a memorable one." "To whom it may concern: Birding in Zimbabwe - We have no hesitation in recommending Peter Ginn's safaris to bird-watchers wishing
to make the best of their time in Zimbabwe; he is the leading expert on
the country's great variety of species and has published many books
illustrated by his own excellent photographs. Besides benefiting from his deep knowledge of the birds and where to find them, my wife and I very much
enjoyed his company. Peter also has very useful contacts in all parts of
the country which proved very valuable to us as we traveled round Zimbabwe which
itself is a fascinating country; We look forward to our next
visit." P.K. and Etta Mae Martin "PGBS provides first class birding trips. A key distinction is the educational aspects Peter uses in
introducing the birds of Southern Africa to the client. In addition
a lifetime of information on bird photography is also provided for those
interested. Small groups are provided excellent attention and
customized itinerary at a reasonable cost. Our trip in 1997 with
PGBS remains a most memorable experience." Karen Hunter and Ann Henson "Adventure travel is not unfamiliar to us, so we were prepared to expect the unexpected. The
mechanics of the trip were well planned by Peter, but the Malagasy people
and the transportation system move to a different beat. If you are the
kind of tourist that expects five star accommodations and every detail of
a trip to go as written in an itinerary, then maybe this trip is not your
style. If you are ready for adventure travel and the serendipity that
often accompanies it, then sign up now! Madagascar is a land with many
treasures, unique plants and animals, and birds to make any birder's heart
palpitate. For the armchair traveller, a video or book will do, but to
truly capture the essence of Madagascar, one must go there." See Karen and Ann's detailed Madagascar Reference
